Ladies, if you're looking to shop consciously and in style from brands made in India, this post is for you!

The first brand I'd like to highlight is called I was a Sari.
As its name suggests, this social enterprise is dedicated to transforming pre-loved saris into fashionable and sustainable products. This initiative plays a crucial role in supporting underprivileged women in Mumbai, India, by providing them with training and employment opportunities.
As of now, the company employs 650 women and places a strong emphasis on the well-being and growth of its employees. One inspiring example is Kalpana, who began her journey as an embroidery artisan and advanced to a supervisory role, even traveling to Italy to speak at an Oxfam event.
I was a Sari is deeply committed to sustainability. They upcycle saris sourced from Mumbai markets and use fabric dead-stock to craft unique clothing, accessories, and home decor items. The brand firmly believes that the most sustainable option is the one that already exists, resulting in each piece being unique, handcrafted, and transformed from existing materials.
Their collections are diverse, ranging from tops and dresses to bags and jewelry, all made with upcycled materials. Personally, I am a big fan of their palazzo pants and pull-on pants, which are perfect for staying comfortable in the heat!
Second brand I am introducing is called Thaely and it aims to produce stylish and sustainable sports footwear without compromising on quality or aesthetics.
Thaely focuses on eco-friendly and innovative alternatives to traditional materials, chosen for their environmental benefits and contribution to reducing waste and pollution, such as:
ThaelyTex: Made from recycled plastic bags, this material mimics leather in appearance and durability.
Recycled PET: Used for components such as shoe uppers, it is made from recycled plastic bottles. Fun fact: Each sneaker uses rPET that’s made using 12 Recycled waste plastic bottles.
Recycled Rubber: Employed for the shoe soles and insole, made from recycled rubber waste.
Bloom EVA: sustainable material made from algae, used in the soles of Reflex Runner shoes. It serves as an eco-friendly, high-performance alternative to traditional petroleum-based EVAs
Thaely is committed to creating a positive social impact in addition to addressing environmental concerns. In India, where the waste picker industry is largely unregulated and workers often face exploitation, Thaely ensures fair wages for its waste management employees. The company also provides financial and health education, nutritious meals, and adequate breaks, especially during harsh weather.
To further improve working conditions, Thaely implements a five-day work week, which is a significant improvement over the typical seven-day work schedule in many waste management facilities.
If you are looking for ethical, organic & recycled sustainable bags, ecoright is a brand to consider.
EcoRight emphasizes sustainability by using conscious materials like organic cotton, recycled plastic, and jute (which is the merge of 2 fibers juton and cotton) and it ensures their inks, dyes, and packaging are all environmentally friendly.
In addition, they focus on the well-being of their workers, fostering a positive and equitable workplace, you can read more about the way employees are treated in their website.
Collections are funny and do not harm much the planet, I love their selection of lunch bags, so cute and stylish for an eco-friendly meal at an affordable price!
To complete your outfit the icing on the cake is to add ethical and sustainable jewelry piece with Wolf and Zephyr, a brand of jewelry designed in UK and manufactured in India.
From a social standpoint, the brands emphasized the fair wage and ethical standards like ensuring all staff work standard eight hour days and have the opportunity to work paid overtime when needed.
The brand uses recycled fine metals and conflict-free gemstones to craft unique pieces designed for longevity and everyday wear, with affordable prices as you can find earrings, necklaces, and rings raging from 40 to 150 £.
Wolf and Zephyr is also a member of "1% For The Planet," donating a minimum of 1% of annual sales to non-profit environmental organizations such as WWF-UK, Tree-Nation and Plastic-Free-Me.
I hope this post has inspired you to explore and support conscious fashion brands made in India. By choosing sustainable options like these handpicked brands you not only add unique and stylish pieces to your wardrobe but also contribute to meaningful social and environmental change.
